01 Does it actually work, or is it just scented soap?

It has no masking perfume doing the work — that's the point. Persimmon tannin is a polyphenol, and polyphenols bind readily to the organic compounds that cause odour, including nonenal, the compound behind the particular body odour that develops with age and doesn't wash off with ordinary soap.

Bound to the tannin, those compounds rinse away with the lather. So the result isn't "smells like persimmon" — it's smells like nothing, which is a different and better outcome.

The one thing that decides whether it works for you is contact time. Thirty seconds of lather on the skin before rinsing. Rush it and you've just had a normal shower.

02 Do I still need deodorant?

Different jobs. This cleans odour off the skin in the shower; antiperspirant reduces sweat during the day. Most people keep both and find they use less deodorant than before, because it isn't fighting anything.

If you wear cologne, this is the bigger win: starting from genuinely neutral skin means the scent you chose is the scent people actually get, instead of a blend of it and whatever was underneath.

03 Will it dry out my skin?
